It is rightly said, “Wear braces; they add glitter to your teeth.” There are many orthodontic treatments to align the crooked teeth. One such treatment is to get braces which help to fix your misaligned teeth. Wearing braces requires extra care to ensure that your braces don’t get damaged and your treatment goes as planned. Dr. Sanjay Kalra, listed among the best dentists in Chandigarh has come up with a few Do’s and don’ts when you have got braces.
Do’s
Listed below are some things you should do:
• Clean your teeth properly at least 2 times a day. To ensure that there are no particles left and your teeth are healthy, brush your teeth twice a day or preferably after having each meal.
• Water helps keep your mouth moist and your teeth clean, so drink plenty of water every day.
• Sometimes, food particles stick to your teeth and don’t get removed by brushing. For such cases, use a toothpick to remove such particles.
• Always floss your teeth whenever you brush. It cleans hard to reach places and helps prevent staining and cavities.
• Always cut the food into smaller parts before consuming them to protect your braces from any damage.
Dont’s
You should avoid the following things with braces:
• Don’t eat sticky food as they increase the risk of cavities and damage your braces.
• Don’t chew on pens, pencils, fingernails and other such objects.
• Don’t drink sugary or carbonated drinks. The sugar and acidity stain your teeth and cause cavities.
• Don’t eat popcorns as the hulls can get stuck under your braces and can cause gum irritations.
• Don’t skip your orthodontic appointment as you are adding time to your treatment by doing so.
Wearing braces can feel a little uncomfortable in the beginning but Dr. Sanjay Kalra, best dentist Tricity, suggests you can ease the discomfort by practicing caution and care.
