POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTION AFTER MINOR ORAL SURGERY

A) DAY OF SURGERY:

  • Remove the pack after one hour.
  • Do not speak/spit for one hour after surgery.
  • Don’t rinse or gargle.
  • Don’t touch the wound area.
  • Don’t eat as long as the local anesthesia is effective.
  • After the effect goes, take cold and liquid diet for today.
  • Avoid coffee, tea, alcohol, cigarette for one day.
  •  Take it easy don’t do any exercise.

B) FOLLOWING DAY:

  • SWELLING
  • Postoperative swelling is a normal reaction of body & should not worry you.Keep it at a minimum by doing cold compresses on the cheek if required.

BLEEDING 

Stains of blood in your saliva during the first day after surgery are normal. In case of continues bleeding, come back to dental clinic.

ORAL HYGIENE
Don’t interrupt your oral hygiene efforts. Brush carefully from “red” (the gingina) to “white” (the teeth). Warm saline rinses will hasten healing. Come for dressing the next day instructed to do so.

FOOD
Take normal healthy diet from next day of surgery.
